Animal Stories
These two gorgeous little girls came to the rescue in November, they had been left to die, in a secure carrier well off the main path in woodlands.
Fortunately a dog found them whilst sniffing in the undergrowth on a walk, the dog managed to get the attention of its owner. Two tiny faces, starring back at the dog owner, wondering what they had done wrong.
The dog owner took them along to the local vets, who checked them over, gave them some food, and contacted us.
They arrived here in good health, although the vets did say they were rather cold initially. They were put straight into one of our pens and given a lovely warm heated bed, food, water and lots of toys.
They are so lovely and just adore a fuss made of them, which makes them give off the loudest purr.
Nobody knows how long they had been out there, or what would have happened if the dog and owner hadn't spotted them.
Please, if you need help with any cats/kittens, that you feel you cannot cope with please ring the centre and we will try our utmost to help.

At the side of The Centre we have a little entrance, rarely used, very dark with the overhanging trees. About 7.30am Nigel while feeding the animals, happened, and only by chance looked down towards this little entrance, and saw a carrier. Inside were two black cats, and a note attached to the outside. It had been a cold night, so do not know how many hours the cats had been out there. Needless to say, a warm pen was found for them, and food and water made available to them.
It could have been several days before we had found them (we know it wasn’t because we had put the dustbin out there the previous day).
I can understand how desperate people get, but there is no excuse to leave them exposed like that. At this time of the year rehoming is going very well, and they didn’t even contact us to ask if we could help. Just recently we have agreed to take cats older than these two.
We will love them, make sure they get the veterinary treatment they require, and ensure they get a responsible home.

"Hi, my name is Cadbury, and I am chocolate coloured!"
"You can see my picture above, it is not the most flattering, but I get so many girlfriends, I really cannot cope with anymore".
I was brought here to The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre by a lady who used to help the Cats Protection, because I was feral they did not have a home for me. I think it is very important all these rescue centres work together, and make a better future for us puss cats and other animals.
I came in with Smartie, and we were penned up for a while, and then released (we had both had our operations of course) out into this lovely environment. We stayed in the barn for a while, and met up with all the rabbits, and hid amongst the hay bales. Food came regularly, and I got to know more and more of the other cats. It was then I realized how attractive the lady cats at The Centre found me, rather a Rod Stewart of the feline world! Smartie by this time had installed herself in one of the other areas, and I was left to be looked after by an abundance of feline beauties. Rachel, a beautiful long haired white cat, found at The Bupa hospital became my partner for many years, and then Nadia, a lithe young white and tabby, and then Naomi a beautiful torty.
I have been here since 1992, and my current lady friend is a strapping young lass called Ebony and I think I will stick with her, but it doesn't hurt to look!
